Sustainable Business Practices

What are we monitoring?

The number of Blue Mountains businesses that have been accredited in Sustainable Business Practices under the Blue Mountains Business Advantage Program.

The Blue Mountains Business Advantage Program provides training in Sustainable Business Practices. Businesses achieving accreditation receive the benefits of the training, plus the right to use the unique Blue Mountains branding. By using the branding Blue Mountains businesses publicly acknowledge the importance of operating more sustainably.

For more information on the Blue Mountains Business Advantage program and the branding, see www.bluemountainsadvantage.com.au.

What is the trend?

Since December 2004 the number of businesses gaining accreditation in sustainable business practices has been steadily increasing.

Why is monitoring this trend important?

The City of Blue Mountains location within the spectacular World Heritage National Park places responsibilities and a stewardship role on the community, Council and other agencies. Increasing the number of businesses operating sustainably provides a stronger economic base for the City while managing impacts on our World Heritage environment.
