Background
The Blue Mountains community has endorsed a 25-Year City Vision for a more sustainable Blue Mountains. A great number of actions and processes are influencing our sustainability. Sometimes the influence is positive, sometimes negative and sometimes the influence is unclear.
This website provides information that is offered to increase understanding about our progress towards achieving the Vision for a more sustainable Blue Mountains.
Most of the information (time series data, trends and photographs) presented under the heading 'Our Progress' shows trends: patterns of change over time. At this stage, only a small number of time series datasets is displayed under Trends. For each of these datasets there is a description, an explanation of the trend where evident and why monitoring the trend is important as well as information about the data source.
Stories about action taken that is aimed at achieving a more sustainable Blue Mountains is presented under Our Actions.
The information displayed under the heading 'Our Progress' will developed and added to as better ways of understanding our progress becomes clear.
Population Profile, Forecast and Social Atlas
There are also three powerful interactive tools available to the Blue Mountains community to use to find out the profile of the population at the most recent census, a forecast of population changes into the future and an atlas that maps a range of socio-demographic characteristics in the City of Blue Mountains. You can find out about what is happening at the town, Planning Area and City-wide levels.
The Blue Mountains City population and household profile, forecasting and social atlas tools are designed to inform community groups, Council, investors, business, students and the general public.
