SSHED Program Supports Local Business Growth

The Better Economic Future Development Forum was held in 2008, led by Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC) to develop strategies to create employment opportunities in the Region. One of many new initiatives developed since the Forum is inspired by the Sutherland Shire Hub for Economic Development (SSHED), an established and innovative concept to support small business growth.

As a result the SSHED has invited Biznet, with support from BMCC, to participate in a pilot study targeting businesses with a strong desire to grow and employ more people in the Region.

Using the SSHED philosophy and practice as a model, five businesses from the Blue Mountains will be selected to participate in a similar local subsidised pilot program. These organisations will have the opportunity to be part of the subsidised pilot program to enhance their organisation's skills and practices through a sophisticated business acceleration program and IT support.

Some of the components of the Program include branding, goal setting, mentoring and access to web / email hosting, a VOIP phone system and daily data backup. The pilot program runs for one year with the possibility of an extension. To find out more about the SSHED program or to submit an Expression of Interest to participate, contact Heather Shepherd, Executive Officer, Biznet, or phone 47 82 5307.
