Climate Change Risk Assessment Report
Climate change is a critical issue for the global community and is of great significance to local governments who are responsible for providing key services to communities including the management of natural and built assets.
The Blue Mountains is justly regarded as a special place. It is critical that the Council, community and other agencies have a thorough understanding of the risks associated with climate change in the Blue Mountains so that the challenge can be met with strategic and coordinated action.
The Blue Mountains City Council, with the support of the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, has completed a Climate Change risk assessment. Climate Risk Pty Ltd, were engaged to assist the Council in undertaking the risk assessment process.
The Blue Mountains Climate Change Risk Assessment Report is now available. The Report includes a climate change overview, a prioritised list of climate change risks, discussion of the risks and recommended steps in moving forward to adaptation. The Report highlights the importance of the Council, as a responsible custodian of our local area, understanding and managing climate change risk to build our local resilience to climate change.
