Community Gardens in the Blue Mountains

Community gardens are gardens created and maintained on public or private land by people who come together to learn about, participate in and share the rewards of gardening activities. Community gardens provide a place for healthy recreation, environmental education and creative endeavours of all kinds.

Blue Mountains City Council Policy and Guidelines
On 19 April 2011, Blue Mountains City Council approved a Policy to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Council with respect to the establishment and management of community gardens on land in the Blue Mountains owned and / or managed by Council. At the same time, Council approved a set of Guidelines that guides community in the required process to establish a community garden in the Blue Mountains. An application form is incorporated in the Guidelines. The documents can be downloaded from the Council website www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/sustainableliving/communitygardens
