NSW Climate Change Fund Rebates
Blue Mountains residents are taking advantage of the NSW Climate Change Fund Rebates.
The $100 million Residential Rebate Program is part of the NSW Government's Climate Change Fund, established to help people make their homes more water and energy efficient. It provides rebates for rainwater tanks, climate-friendly hot water systems, ceiling insulation and water-efficient washing machines.
As at 31 March 2009, more than 70,000 rebates had been claimed by NSW householders, saving more than 1 billion litres of water and 50,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions a year.
Blue Mountains residents are high on the list of those taking advantage of the rebates with 1,509 rebates claimed – the ninth highest number of claims out of 154 Councils. Blue Mountains residents have made claims as follows:
- Rainwater tank rebates – 548
- Hot water system rebates – 627
- Ceiling Insulation rebates – 88
- Washing Machines rebates – 246
